While I’ve made no attempt to hide the fact that I prefer goggles to sunglasses, every now and then a pair of glasses comes around that makes me a believer. The latest pair to shake my faith in the goggles-only mentality is Pacific Coast’s Chopper Black Sunglasses.
This set of clear lens glasses were one of my favorite review sunglasses I’ve ever used, and that is not something I will say about any old product. Part of the reason why I liked this pair of glasses so much is the way they look. Yes, as silly as it sounds, this pair of glasses frames most faces in a very flattering way, as they are just big enough without being huge, and yet small enough to look completely normal hanging off a shirt pocket.
The Chopper Black Sunglasses by Pacific Coast have a great wraparound fit that never led me to believe that they were going to fall off. Even while wearing a half-helmet and riding in fairly windy conditions. I wouldn’t trust these to never fall off, and would definitely recommend that any motorcycle rider who buys them uses them in conjunction with a good-quality neck strap.
Unlike common, gas station sunglasses, the Chopper Black pair has a not-too-thick padding of foam all around the frames, and the padding, while not perfect, eliminated a lot of wind and water in my testing. There was some issue with this pair fogging up, as the ventilation found in most motorcycle goggles was missing from this pair of sunglasses; but a small bit of rotation and adjustment fixed all fogging problems quickly and easily.
The lenses on the Chopper sunglasses are 100% shatterproof, unlike those you’ll find on cheaper pairs. The lenses also exceed UV 400 protection standards, so you don’t have to worry about any nasty, stray sun beams getting after your face.
Pacific Coast sells their Chopper Black Sunglasses for just $19.95, which is a very good price for any kind of eye wear that is both functional and good looking to boot. However, right now this pair of glasses is being sold on some sites for just $9.95. You can’t even get a lot of sunglasses on a swivel stand for less than $10 bucks, so pick this great pair of sunglasses up right now!
